Thrummed mittens were originally made by frugal mill workers in England to make use of pieces of fleece that would accumulate on the mill floor. While there wouldn't have been bright scraps of wool back in the day, you can find thrummed mittens in a variety of patterns and colours today. These particular mittens are navy and cream, with a nautical striped pattern.
